Batman: Arkham Origins has a new Gamescon 2013 trailer introducing Firefly.

Warner Bros. Games Montreal certainly has their work cut out for them convincing long-time Arkham fans that even though they are a different developer, they won’t let us down with this prequel to the series. It’s no easy feat, but they are dead set on making sure they get it right.

In this new game in the series, Batman is much more cocky and arrogant, having only gone after mob bosses at the worst thus far, as previously reported by The Inquisitr . He hasn’t yet met the more heinous villains of the bunch, but thanks to Black Mask, he’s about to. It’s Christmas Eve, there is a bounty on Batman’s head, and eight assassins have decided to take up the challenge.

So far we’ve heard of the Joker, Bane, Deathstroke, and Copperhead, but this new trailer has Batman facing Firefly, the arson-minded maniac.

The Gamescon 2013 trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins begins with Bane attempting to punch Batman while he’s down. Then Deathstroke swirls his sword in preparation. Copperhead poses for a takedown, and the Joker laughs as he closes in for what he believes to be the kill with a knife.

A voice-over begins, “I’ve long waited for this moment. In your death, I will find peace.”

The developer logos flash by before we see Alfred approaching an unmasked Batman, “Eight assassins after your head. What are you going to do?”

We see Batman suiting up and getting ready for his usual crime-fighting routine before he says, “I’m going to find Black Mask, and put an end to this.” He approaches the Batwing, climbs in, and takes off.

Then we see him approaching a group of men in yellow apparently keeping a lone man on his knees in the snow. After a brief fight scene, and a few more scenes with villains we’ve seen already, we finally witness a new character in a jetpack, carrying a flamethrower and covered in a flame-retardant suit.

Batman has now met Firefly.

What do you think of the Batman: Arkham Origins Gamescon 2013 trailer introducing Firefly? Are you excited to play the game when it hits Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC?
