Rizzoli & Isles Star Lee Thompson Young Didn’t Leave A Suicide Note
Rizzoli & Isles star Lee Thompson Young committed suicide yesterday at the age of 29, but didn’t leave a suicide note meaning that we’ll probably never know what drove him to take his own life.
TMZ reports that no suicide note was found in Young’s North Hollywood apartment after he was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Monday, August 19. Young did reportedly keep a diary, but the entries do not reveal any reason why the actor would take his own life.
After failing to show up for work on Rizzoli & Isles Monday, Young’s body was discovered in his apartment. His publicist confirmed in a statement that the former Famous Jett Jackson star had committed suicide.
“It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning… Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed.”
Almost immediately after Young’s death, Deadline reported that the producers on the hit TNT cop drama had halted production for the day. Young played homicide detective Barry Frost on the show. Show bosses are currently mulling over a possible hiatus for the show so that the cast and crew can have some personal time to mourn Young.
Additionally, the show’s writers will need to figure out how to address his abrupt departure in upcoming episodes.
We’re devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him.
