Glee Season 5: Demi Lovato To Join Cast As Struggling Artist, Report
Glee Season 5 is close to having a new addition to its cast. Demi Lovato, the actress-singer and X Factor judge will be joining as a struggling artist, several sources are reporting.
There is no confirmation of the news, but the rumor is that the deal is almost done and Lovato would come in as a friend of Rachel and Santana.
According to TVline.com the 21-year-old actress will work around her X Factor schedule. She is to play Dani, a friend of Rachel’s (Lea Michele’s character) from New York.
She is also expected to have interactions with Adam Lambert’s character. Fox announced in July that Lambert would be joining the cast, after several of the cast members said they would not return and some others would be upgraded to main characters.
Demi Lovato and Lambert will have several musical numbers together in the new season. Her deal will have her appear in at least six episodes starting with the second part of the show’s Beatles tribute, which airs October 3.
This is the actress/singer’s first major TV role since Disney channel’s Sonny With A Chance ended two years ago. Demi Lovato has appeared in Camp Rock, and some episodes of Prison Break and Grey’s Anatomy.
Glee, of course, suffered a major blow when one its main stars Cory Monteith tragically passed away of an overdose on drugs and alcohol in July, while in Canada.
There has been many rumors about the future of the show and whether, his off screen girlfriend Lea Michele would return to reprise her role as Rachel.
The new season has began filming with Michele and many returning characters and everyone now seems ready to move on with the show.
Season 5 of Glee promises to have an emotional opening as producers are working on writing Monteith’s character off.
Fox is hoping that bringing new blood in the form of Demi Lovato will work to their advantage and increase ratings.
