Raquel Welch To Star In House Of Versace
The new Lifetime movie House Of Versace will star Gina Gershon, Enrico Colatoni, Colm Feore, and sex symbol Raquel Welch.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that Welch will play Aunt Lucia in the new movie. Gershon will star as Donatella Versace and Colantoni will play Gianni. Feore will play their brother Santo.
The new movie will be based on the book House of Versace: The Untold Story Of Genius, Murder, and Survival and will center on Donatella’s struggle to carry on the Versace legacy after Gianni’s murder.
When Gianni died in 1997 Versace nearly died with it. Donatella struggled with addiction and nearly went bankrupt. But with the help of her Aunt Lucia (played by Welch) and her brother Santo (played by Feore) she managed to turn the company around.
Welch, who is 72-years-old, hasn’t been acting too much in recent years. This will be her first acting gig, with the exception of a guest spot on CSI: Miami last year, since 2008.
But the actress has been keeping herself busy with other endeavors. She recently wrote the The New York Times best-seller Raquel: Beyond the Cleavage.
Welch talked to AARP.com in about her book, being a sex symbol, and that infamous poster from One Million Years B.C.
Welch said in 2012: “I was a bigger-than-life persona before I was anyone in my own mind.”
Raquel Welch will return to the small screen on October 5 at 8 pm in her new movie The House Of Versace.
