Glam metal icons, KISS, have revealed that they will launch their own football team, which will compete in the Arena Football League from 2014.
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley , the bassist and guitarist from the band, respectively, confirmed the news, and they will pay a key role in the sporting franchise, which will be known as LA KISS.
The team will play their encounters at the Honda Center, and anyone who buys a season ticket will then be able to attend a free KISS concert at the venue.
Stanley stated , “Season tickets are now on sale for what we know will be some of the most acton-packed games ever played at the Honda Center. Arena Football is played at a fast and furious pace and making season tickets available now for the budget-friendly price of $99 gives a whole new meaning to bang for the buck.”
Simmons echoed his bandmates sentiments, stating, “As a fast-paced, high-action band this partnership with the AFL was an obvious fit for us. With Arena Football, you are much closer to the action – sitting in the front row is like putting a folding chair on the hash mark of an NFL game – and it’s one of the only sports where you can experience this level of intensity.”
The rockstar then remarked, “Attending an LA KISS game in 2014 will be similar to a live KISS show, with thrilling, heart pounding action.”
LA KISS will be playing in the AFL’s 27th season in 2014, and this new Los Angeles team will be the first side from Southern California since 2009, when the Los Angeles Avengers folded.
Jerry B. Kurz, the AFL Commissioner, said of LA KISS’ arrival , “We could not be more thrilled to bring the league back to Los Angeles. And partnering with such incredible rock legends as KISS is certain to give fans a sports experience unlike anything they have ever seen.”
