The Hunger Games and X-Men star Jennifer Lawrence turns 23 today after landing major roles in blockbuster titles as well as winning the Oscar for Best Actress in 2013.
Jennifer Lawrence was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky and was already on the road to becoming an actor by the age of 14. Just like quite a few other well-known actresses right now, Lawrence graduated from High School early with a 3.9 GPA.
Before 2010, Jennifer Lawrence had very few roles and was never the star of a movie or TV show but eventually, in 2010 she broke into the spotlight. Lawrence became the lead actor in 2010’s Winters Bone which ended up winning the Best Picture award at the Sundance Film Festival in the same year.
Even with the success of Winters Bone, Lawrence had not yet become a major actress with any globally known titles. However, everything changed in 2011 when she was offered the lead role of Katniss Everdeen for The Hunger Games in March. She was so surprised that she ended up taking a few days to respond to the offer due to shock as well as nervousness once she realized that the role would change her career forever.
Not only was The Hunger Games an extremely successful movie but Jennifer Lawrence’s portrayal of the main character was considered to be spot-on by most critics. Some people went as far as to say that she embodied the entire persona of the character from The Hunger Games novels.
Of course, following the success of the first movie , Jennifer Lawrence will be moving on to complete the last two movies of The Hunger Games series. With her acting in X-Men: First Class also earning her more support from critics, she will be returning as Mystique in X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
