Prince William has a great sense of humor. On his first public appearance after the birth of his and Kate Middleton’s son, George, he had the crowd laughing with his quotes.
The new dad didn’t show any of the classic signs of fatigue; he wasn’t yawning or had dark circles under his eyes. On the contrary.
William was joking around, answering random questions from crowd members who had gathered to catch a glimpse at the Prince when he visited at the Anglesey Show on Wednesday.
He even spoke a bit of Welsh, which is known as a difficult language, saying that his pronunciation is bad but is slowly getting better. The event showcases native animals to the area where him and Kate lived a quiet life while he was stationed as a search and rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force.
“Catherine is sorry she cannot be here at the County Show.” Prince William told those present, speaking of his wife who stayed at home with the baby.” She and George would have loved to have been here.”
Kate has not been seen in public since the family left for her parents’ home in Bucklebury two days after Prince George was born.
Speaking of his child, William joked that he is “loud” but “very good looking”.
He told the crowd that parenting is fun, if somewhat exhausting.
“I have to say that I thought search and rescue duties over Snowdonia were physically and mentally demanding, but looking after a three week-old baby is up there!” he joked.
William thanked the citizens of Anglesey for their hospitality.
“I know that I speak for Catherine when I say that I have never in my life known somewhere as beautiful and as welcoming as Anglesey. The views across the Menai Straits are undoubtedly among the most stunning in the British Isles. I know that both of us will miss it terribly when my search and rescue tour of duty comes to an end next month and we have to move elsewhere.” he told the crowd.
Prince William, Kate Middleton, and the royal baby will be residing at Kensington Palace once renovations are complete.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making my wife and me so welcome when we arrived here, as you do thousands of visitors each year. This island has been our first home together, and it will always be an immensely special place for us both. Catherine and I look forward to returning again and again over the coming years with our family.”
Prince William recently returned to his duties after taking paternity leave from his job. A first for any royal.
