Stephenie Meyer Is ‘So Over’ Twilight, Wants To Be A Producer

Oh, how the mighty fall. Author Stephenie Meyer is really over her vampire fiction series Twlight and all of the fame it has gotten.

“I get further away every day. I am so over it,” she bluntly tells Variety in a Q&A. “For me, it s not a happy place to be.”

We’re not sure how her fans are going to take this, but once a thing’s creator becomes fatigued with said thing, said thing is pretty much over, isn’t it? Not necessarily. Perk up those ears, Twilight fans. Meyer will probably still continue to cash-in on the series with new material.

“What I would probably do is three paragraphs on my blog saying which of the characters died,” she said of doing any sort of continuation of Twilight. Still, she says she’s “interested in spending time in other worlds, like Middle-Earth.”

So that means a new novel, right? Maybe an entirely new series, or a follow-up to her one not-Twilight book The Host? Nope.

“I’m kind of decompressing and figuring that out,” she said when asked if she’s working on anything new.

Okay, so what’s a successful Mormon to do, then? Meyer said that she’s interested in parlaying her work in books to a career in film, probably as a producer.

She serves as a producer on the upcoming film Austenland which stars Keri Russell, and said that it was an interesting experience compared to producing movies adapted from her work, precisely because the anticipated film isn’t adapted from her work.

“There was zero pressure, since this was not my novel. It’s a comedy first and foremost, so there was a lot of laughter,” she said. “Keri was five months pregnant and the least pregnant woman I’ve ever seen,” she added, curiously.

Are you a fan of the Twilight books? What do you think of Stephenie Meyer being “so over” the series?
