Gia Allemand Critical After ‘Serious Medical Event,’ What Happened?
Former Bachelor contestant Gia Allemand is seriously ill, and has been hospitalized since Monday in critical condition in New Orleans.
Little information on Gia Allemand’s illness has been released, and the 28-year-old former Bachelor star’s PR rep released a statement asking for privacy.
The statement cryptically read:
“Gia Allemand was taken to University Hospital, New Orleans last night following a serious emergency medical event, the details of which are currently not known. She is listed in critical condition. Ms. Allemand’s mother is with her, along with her long-term boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans. On behalf of the family, we kindly ask for privacy at this time.”
Bachelor fans will remember Gia Allemand as one of the final three women on the season of The Bachelor involving Jake Pavelka. Allemand went on to appear in the first season of Bachelor Pad.
No on has yet indicated why Gia has been hospitalized or what sort of “medical event,” (injury, illness, or misadventure) precipitated the sudden and serious illness in the young woman — but her former castmates are really upset and worried.
Reality show alumni have been saddened and are publicly hoping and praying Gia Allemand pulls through.
Pavelka was among well-wishers, tweeting:
Please pray for @GiaAllemand… A dear friend and one of the sweetest women I know… #powerofprayer
