Ron Burgundy Memoir: Anchorman’s Book To Hit Shelves In November
Will Ferrell’s hit Anchorman character Ron Burgundy is writing a memoir.
The book is being published by Crown Archetype, an imprint of Random House’s Crown Publishing Group, and is titled Let Me Off At The Top!: My Classy Life And Other Musings.
According to Random House editorial director Jack Fogg, the book will be published in the UK and Australia.
The memoir will focus on never-before-told stories about Ron Burgundy’s childhood and events that helped him grow into the greatest anchorman of all time at San Diego’s Action 4 News Team.
In a statement for his new memoir, Burgundy writes:
“I don’t know if it’s the greatest autobiography ever written. I’m too close to the work. I will tell you this much: The first time I sat down and read this thing, I cried like a goddamn baby.”
Keeping up the charade for the fake news personalities memoir, Mauro DiPreta, vice president and editor in chief at Crown Archetype, writes:
“The list of legendary American broadcast news journalists is short: Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite and, of course, Ron Burgundy.”
Fogg then adds that Burgundy’s news reading is evident in the work of other legends such as Richard Baker, Moira Stuart, Brian Henderson, and Jeremy Paxman.
Ron Burgundy’s memoir will drop on November 19 in the United States, the UK, Canada, and Australia in print and digital formats.
The book should generate some nice publicity for the upcoming film Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. The sequel to the Burgundy story debuted in US theaters on December 20, 2013.
Crown announced the new memoir in the form of a tweet:
