John McCain Live Tweets His Jury Duty Experience
We haven’t heard much from John McCain since he ran for office in 2008. That said it looks like he’s delved into something youth can relate to – tweeting his every thought. This week McCain took to Twitter to express his excitement over serving his civic duty as he was called for jury duty.
The service is usually met with a lot of groans, and filled with people who would rather be doing anything else but serving on a jury, but McCain was happy to be put through the whole process, and live tweeted the event. Technically his tweeting about jury duty is still okay as long as Mr. McCain didn’t tweet about the specifics of the case.
McCain should be no stranger to the rules of the judiciary system as he served as a member of Congress for more than three decades. McCain detailed his process of getting called for jury duty in several tweets, and it sounds like he was up for the challenge.
McCain made his first tweet about the experience, tweeting:
“This morning at the Maricopa County Superior Court in #Phoenix – let’s see if I’m picked!”
He told AZCentral: “Doing my civic duty for a change. We’re off to get those criminals.”
Four hours and change later, McCain tweeted his status in court:

McCain made sure to note that he was called several times in the past, but has never been picked to serve on a jury, telling AZCentral: “You never know.”

Despite being up for the task, McCain was not selected for a trial but still kept hope alive that it might be in his future:

If McCain would have been selected for a trial, it might have been tricky. The judge would have to make sure that McCain’s presence wouldn’t influence the other jurors in the decision-making process, which could prove to be a balancing act.
