Katy Perry, John Mayer Release Duet ‘Who You Love’
Katy Perry and John Mayer have had an on-off relationship over the years but it looks like the two singers are finally in a good place. The celebrity couple recently released a new duet, Who You Love, and you can practically hear the affection coming through the speakers.
The NY Daily News notes that the song ends with a “love giggle” from Katy Perry. The singer said that she didn’t mean to laugh on the track but that she was just so happy to be recording with Mayer that it slipped out.
Perry said: “I think that’s just a love giggle… It’s like the ones that Mariah Carey had in 1990 and stuff like that… Yeah I think I was going for that, I think I was just so happy, I love that song. It’s very humanizing. It’s like the real moment, you’re catching the real moment there.”
The love giggle is only one of the many signs of affection on the new song. All you really have to do to see how Mayer and Perry feel about each other is listen to the lyrics.
Mayer sings: “My girl, she ain’t the one that I saw coming /Sometimes I don’t know which way to go/And I tried to run before but I’m not running anymore/Cuz I fought against it hard enough to know /That you love who you love who you love/You can’t make yourself stop dreaming of who you’re dreaming of/If it’s who you love, then it’s who you love…”
Perry responds: “My boy, he ain’t the one that I saw coming/And some have said his heart’s too hard to hold / And he takes a little time but you should see him when he shines/Cuz you never want to let the feeling go.”
The lyrics mimic Katy Perry’s interview with Elle last September. The singer had recently broken up with Mayer but said that she was still “madly in love” with him.
