George Lucas And Mellody Hobson Welcome Baby Girl
George Lucas and his new wife Mellody Hobson welcomed a baby girl into the world last week.
According to the Huffington Post, the Star Wars creator and Hobson, the president of Ariel Investments, had a baby girl named Everest Hobson Lucas on August 9. She is the first biological child for the couple but isn’t Lucas’ first child.
The Star Wars director already has three adopted children Amanda, 32; Katie, 25; and Jett, 20.
USA Today reports that Everest Hobson Lucas was born via surrogate last week. Jimmy Fallon and his wife Nancy also recently announced that they had a baby via surrogate.
Lucas hasn’t publicly commented on his new child but the celebrity couple are probably thrilled to meet Everest.
In an interview with Oprah last year, Mellody opened up about her relationship with George, saying:
“I think it works because we are extraordinarily open-minded people and we’re open to what the universe brings us. I think we didn’t have preconceived ideas about what a partnership should be and so we allowed ourselves to discover something that was unexpected.”
Lucas, 69, and Mellody, 44, were married earlier this Summer at Skywalker Ranch in California.
Lucas recently sold his production company, LucasFilm LTD to Walt Disney Company for more than $4 billion. The legendary director said that he wants to focus on small budget films and has handed the reigns of Star Wars over to Star Trek director J.J. Abrams.
