A new trailer for Hunger Games: Catching Fire has been released and Coldplay is making history, contributing to a movie for the first time in their career.
Coldplay and Lionsgate are partnering for one of the most anticipated films of the year, Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
This is the first time the British band will contribute an original song to a movie soundtrack. The single is titled Atlas and will be released on August 26 ahead of the film’s release on November 22.
On a tweet by the band posted on Friday, they share a snapshot at the lyrics for the song and give fans a glimpse at the words for the first time. Pretty cool.
Friday was a good day for Hunger Games fans, a new 90-second trailer also made its debut online. The first full-length trailer premiered at San Diego Comic-Con last month.

The story picks up as “Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.”
Director Francis Lawrence said, “I have great respect and admiration for Coldplay, and we are thrilled with how well they have connected to the themes and ideas within the film.”
Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released in the United Kingdom on November 21, a day ahead of the US release.
