Katherine Heigl Coming Back To TV [Report]
Katherine Heigl, remember her? The star of Knocked Up and Grey’s Anatomy has been fairly quiet as of late but may be planning a big return to TV.
We haven’t seen much of Katherine Heigl in the past few years as she adjusts to motherhood, but the actress best known for her portrayal of Dr. Izzie on Gray’s may be headed back to TV soon.
According to several reports, Heigl is in talks to hook up with a CIA procedural that’s a bit different than her medical drama past on the popular ABC nighttime soap.
USAToday reports:
“The series, a drama that Heigl is attached to star in and produce, is being written by Alexi Hawley. Details are unclear, but Hawley’s background as a writer-producer on ABC’s Body of Proof and Castle suggests the project would be a procedural drama rather than the kind of medical soap that made the actress a household name.”
Heigl drew down in 2010 after adopting two daughters, but it may be her time to return to the small screen with the yet-to-be-named procedural.
Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva dishes:
“I’ve learned that feature producer Robert Simonds (The Pink Panther) had been developing the project with Hawley, Heigl and a team of senior CIA officials. Heigl, who I hear responded to the strong female character at the center of the show, is executive producing with her mother/manager Nancy Heigl, Hawley, Simonds and Julia Franz… I hear both broadcast and cable networks are in the running for the project, though Heigl is not expected to return to ABC as I hear the network is not in the mix, likely because of similarity in the setting to ABC’s DC drama Scandal, from Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes.”
Katherine Heigl has not commented yet on the comeback, rumored for the 2014-2015 season.
