Amber Heard Talks Gun Ownership With Jimmy Kimmel [Video]
Amber Heard may have been raised around guns her entire life, but that doesn’t mean she was comfortable taking a firearm with her to Hollywood.
The Drive Angry actress recently sat down with Jimmy Kimmel to discuss her first trip to Tinseltown. Just as she was biding farewell to her father at the airport, Heard revealed that he attempted to give her a very special weapon to keep in her handbag.
“Like any reasonable people, they were frightened and angry. My dad actually tried to give me a gun as I was entering the airport. He missed the memo about ‘Don’t bring your guns [to California],” Johnny Depp’s main squeeze told the late-night talk show host during their chat.
She continued, “[He] took out a pearl-handled.38 Special and handed it to me and said, ‘Hey baby girl, I got you a pretty one. It don’t got a hammer. So you just pull it right out of your purse!”
Fans of Amber Heard already know that the Rum Diary star isn’t afraid to pack a little heat. In addition to being an incredible shot, the actress reportedly owns several firearms that she keeps close by at all times.
“I don’t have children in the house, so I sleep with my gun in a place that’s close enough that if I needed to protect myself, I could. It’s not in bed with me, though; it’s in a safe location. I’m fully trained and I’m an active member of a gun club. I’m definitely pro-gun,” she explained.
Heard is currently doing the promotional circuit in support of her new thriller Paranoia. The actress stars alongside Harrison Ford, Liam Hemsworth, and Gary Oldman in director Robert Luketic’s upcoming endeavor. The movie opens in theaters across the US on August 16.
