Superman/Batman: Could Mark Strong Play Lex Luthor?
Man Of Steel dropped some hints that Lex Luthor might return in the Superman/Batman sequel announced at Comic-Con. Could Mark Strong (Zero Dark Thirty) play the baddie?
Zack Snyder has not talked about this officially, but the logical development would be that Luthor make an appearance in the sequel to Man Of Steel.
Digital Spy recently spoke with actor Mark Strong about rumors that he could be cast as the villain, to which he responded,
“All I can say it…watch this space.”
So that is not a denial nor a confirmation but makes one think that indeed he is being considered for the part.
Maybe he has auditioned and Snyder hasn’t made up his mind yet. Or maybe they want to pick an actor to play Batman first and then announce additional cast later.
There have been lots of rumors as to who will replace Christian Bale as Batman in the new Superman/Batman movie, which is nameless thus far.
The names floating around are Ryan Gosling (The Notebook), Josh Brolin, who according to Hollywood Reporter is the front runner, Joe Manganiello (True Blood), who failed to nab Superman after Henry Cavill blew Zack Snyder away, Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), Max Martini (Pacific Rim), and Matthew Goode (Watchmen).
Producers said that they are looking for an actor in his forties to play the role. If this list is accurate only Brolin, Armitage, and Martini fit the requirement.
Not many details are known about the film, it doesn’t even have a name yet. The script is being co-written by David Goyer and Zack Snyder.
Hollywood Report emphasizes that the list of possible Batman is very preliminary, but there might be an announcement in the next few weeks.
The production seems to be moving along as it is set to start filming in early 2014 for a 2015 release.
Returning to reprise their roles from Man Of Steel are Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White).
The return of Lex Luthor to the sequel of Man Of Steel was hinted with the various references to LexCorp, the company run by Superman’s nemesis.
Do you think Mark Strong could be a good Lex Luthor?
