LeAnn Rimes Scores An Admittedly Fake Reality Show
LeAnn Rimes is about the get a lot more exposure, as VH1 announced Thursday it was picking up a reality series about her life with husband Eddie Cibrian.
Only, the show’s not going to be all that real.
The show, which has the straightforward working title of LeAnn & Eddie, is set to premiere in the fall of this year or winter 2014 with six half-hour episodes.
LeAnn says the show will give viewers a “glimpse into who we really are or better yet who we’re really not.” She and Cibrian, who were married in 2011, serve as executive producers on the show.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Vh1 and The Gurneys [of Gurney Productions] to put our spin on a project full of love, humor and music,” the couple said in a statement to Us Weekly.
It seems to be a savvy move on the part of VH1. LeAnn Rimes has been a popular figure for tabloids in the past year, especially given her ongoing and very public feud with Eddie’s ex-wife, Real Housewives star Brandi Glanville. The two have exchanged barbs through the press, especially related to LeAnn’s stepmom abilities
The LeAnn Rimes reality show comes with a big endorsement from VH1. The network’s president, Tom Calderone, said they are excited to get to show a different side of the couple.
“LeAnn and Eddie are both talented entertainers who have really captured the public’s imagination in the last couple of years, but there is so much more to them than what you read in the tabloids,” Calderone said. “This is going to be a really fun show in which we hope to reveal what their lives are really like – from the normalcy of their home life, to what drives them artistically, to the chaos of their celebrity life.”
Just don’t expect too much “reality” from the show. In an interview with The Associated Press, LeAnn Rimes said she and Eddie Cibrian wanted to do a “scripted show based around our lives.” LeAnn added that she had been approached about a real reality show but said that model didn’t appeal to her.
