Justin Bieber has been caught on video clambering atop a SUV in the parking lot of the South Pointe nightclub in The Hamptons, New York.
The footage shows scenes of complete uproar in a brawl that took place on Sunday, August 4.
The 19-year-old singer visited the club with around 12 to 14 people including his security team, arriving at about 2.42 am.
He was admitted to the V.I.P. section despite being underage but reportedly stuck to water.
Despite initial reports that he wasn’t a suspect, Bieber is now reportedly under investigation by the New York Police Dept., along with his bodyguards who are accused of assaulting clubgoer Wayne Rennalls, 22.
Southampton Police Sgt. Todd Spencer told the New York Post police were trying to determine if Justin directed his security team to allegedly attack Rennalls.
Rennalls got annoyed when a waitress he had lent a white bow tie to in the nightclub responded to attention from Bieber instead.
The 22-year-old told New York Magazine’s The Cut he went over to the waitress while she getting acquainted with the Canadian star to ask for his bow tie back.
“I just asked,” the actor-model recalled. “Like, ‘I want my f***ing bow tie back.’”
According to the New York Post’s Frank Rosario, a source said the fight:”was all over a little white H&M bow tie. One of the bottle girls liked it, so Wayne let her put it on. Justin was flashing all these girls with his flashlight. The girl with the bow tie went over to Justin and Wayne followed because he wanted his tie back. Then Bieber’s people got in his face… he eventually got the tie back.”
The source also claimed Bieber screamed “Punk b**ch” in Wayne’s direction, with Rennalls reportedly responding by lobbing a rock at the singer’s departing SUV as it left with two waitresses from the club.
It’s alleged the SUV then stopped and Bieber’s security crew got out of the vehicle. At some point, the pop star climbed onto the hood of the SUV and jumped down to the ground.
There is no footage of what happened next. But Rennalls reportedly came away with a black eye, a damaged lip, bruised ribs, and later required treatment at a medical center.
In the video, he is the shirtless, non-white man seen aggressively gesturing at Bieber’s security team.
At another point in the video, Bieber is seen being held back by his friend (possibly) rapper Lil Za while he apparently traded stares and/or shouts with a white man in a pastel colored shirt who is seen falling in a separate part of the lot.
It’s not clear from the video whether the teen singer is directing his bodyguards, but the police and the South Pointe club may have access to more information.
Bieber’s rep previously said : “Justin was not involved in any altercation,” while a number of outlets and the club rep Melanie Weitzner said there was no incident involving the star inside the club.
From the video neither Rennalls or Bieber come off as angels. But it’s impossible to judge what’s going on as there is no meaningful audio and the footage stops before Rennalls was allegedly assaulted and that alleged rock was thrown.
Although Bieber gets out of the SUV, it’s not clear whether his chest-thumping behavior toward the white guy is also directed toward Rennall’s clearly threatening body language — and Rennalls is the one who has actually filed for assault.
Briefly, on bodyguards. Bodyguards, guard. That’s their job description, that’s what they do, it’s all they do. They don’t need to be directed, that is the direction.
Which is probably why New York Daily News Confidenti@l reports a law enforcement source said :
“It will likely turn out that Rennalls instigated the fight. One of Justin’s bodyguards was also injured in the confrontation, which has not been reported.”
The endless Bieber debate looks set to continue. For now, so does the police investigation.
