Al Roker Oversleeps For First Time In 39 Years, Missing Weather Channel Show
“Al Roker oversleeps” has become a pretty big trending term online after the Today Show host missed his 6 am weather program.
Hitting the snooze button happens to the best of us, but Al Roker has been extremely consistent for 39 years in a row. Roker’s consistency is likely what led to such a big deal being made of his absence via Twitter and Facebook.
When most of us don’t show up to work on-time, there are not millions of people left to discuss our no-show.
Following his missed time slot, Al Roker tweeted:
“After 39 years, it happened. I overslept and missed a show. Missed #WUWA. But will be on time for @today.”
Al Roker hosts Wake Up With Al on The Weather Channel starting at 6 am Monday through Friday.
The talk show host woke up in time to rush over to NBC where he then hosted The Today Show.
After arriving on The Today Show set, Al Roker posted a Vine making fun of his oversleeping:
The caption below the Vine reads “Morning, Sleepyhead. So tell me your oversleeping story.”
Joining in on the fun was Roker’s own colleagues including Matt Lauer who posted a photo of Roker with the caption “RIP Van Roker.”
Savannah Guthrie posted the following message:
“Whoa. You know those people you can set your watch to? The always on time people? @alroker *used* to be one of them #oversleeping’ and ‘Disturbance in the force.”
Al Roker has relied on a single alarm clock to wake him up for 39 years; perhaps now would be a good time to buy a second clock or learn to set his smartphone.
Do you think Today Show and Al Roker fans have blown his entire late for work event out of proportion by causing “Al Roker oversleeps” to become a US trending term?
