Kick-Ass 2 Star Sneakily Mocks Jim Carrey Over Violence Complaints
Chloe Grace Moretz is a sneaky ninja, and we’re not just talking about her Kick-Ass character Hit-Girl.
Not too long ago, actor Jim Carrey distanced himself from Kick-Ass 2 (in which he plays the hyper-violent Colonel Stars and Stripes) announcing that he will not support the film due to its high level of violence. He said at the time that the recent Sandy Hook tragedy caused him to re-think his participation in violent movies.
Moretz, 16, is the latest person associated with the film to respond to Carrey’s concerns. Though she insisted that she respects his decision, she went on a pretty long rant about people who have trouble with violent movies.
“It’s a movie,” she tells Britain’s The Sun of Kick-Ass 2.
“If you are going to believe and be affected by an action film, you shouldn’t go to see ‘Pocahontas’ because you are going to think you are a Disney princess. If you are that easily swayed, you might see ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ and think you are a serial killer. It’s a movie and it’s fake, and I’ve known that since I was a kid… I don’t want to run around trying to kill people and cuss. If anything, these movies teach you what not to do.”
While implying that Carrey’s beliefs re misguided at best, she relents:
“Each to their own. I know the movie I made and it’s all good and I respect his decision.”
