‘Sliders’ Targeting Women At Gas Stations Nation Wide [Video]
Attention to all ladies and gentlemen that carry purses, bags, and satchels of all kinds: “sliders” are targeting women at gas stations nation wide.
What is a “slider”? Sliders are thieves that have been targeting women around the nation, stealing wallets and purses from cars while women are filling up at the pump.
They call these thieves “sliders” because they drive up next to a car at the gas pump, and then slide over to your car, check to see if the door is unlocked, and if it is, they steal whatever they can get their hands on before sliding back into their own car.
Today posted a video of a slider getting into a woman’s car and taking her purse. The whole left took about 19 seconds.
Jim Woods, a Houston, Texas police officer warns people that a car is not a secure location for personal property.
Central Florida News continued on to report Woods saying “burglaries can be stopped by women keeping their purses out of sight or taking it with them when they pump gas and always locking their doors.”
Sydney Zenon claims she goes a step further.
“I don’t hold the pump,” Zenon said. “I usually click the holder on the pump so I can have time to actually scan what’s going on around me.”
Andrea Kahle said she does lock her doors, but leaves her purse out in the open.
“It should probably be in the glove compartment, underneath the seat somewhere,” Kahle said. “On my side versus the passenger side, lesson learned.”
While it would seem these sliders are targeting women specifically, that doesn’t mean that men shouldn’t take precaution too.
If men carry wallets, satchels or even brief cases, and leaves them out in the open, that could be enough to encourage a slider to make their move.
So what’s the moral of the story? To avoid being robbed by a slider, either keep your purse or wallet on your person, or make sure it is locked up out of sight.
