Sarah Hyland may play a teen on Modern Family, the actress looked all grown up at the premiere of Lovelace in Los Angeles on Monday.

Earning high marks for her fashion, Hyland showed off a more mature side than her Modern Family character would let on. It seems to fit in with the career path for the 22-year-old young actress, who is moving beyond her role as a popular and cunning teenager on the hit ABC show to make a bigger mark on Hollywood.

For the premiere, Hyland wore a stylish black dress, which featured a leaf-shaped cutout in the middle of her chest. She also had a frilly skirt and pair of sleek open-toed heels, creating what was described as a “ sexy-but-classy feel .”

The subject of Lovelace is quite a stretch from Hyland’s work in Modern Family. The movie stars Amanda Seyfried as porn star Linda Lovelace, who appeared in the crossover hit adult film Deep Throat.

“Just left the #LoveLace premiere and I have to say that it is the best film I’ve seen all year!” Hyland tweeted. “Thanks for inviting me @WeinsteinFilms!”

Weinstein Films likely wanted some exposure for Sarah Hyland, who will star in the studio’s upcoming movie Vampire Academy . The movie is based on the series of books by Richelle Mead, and Hyland will play the daughter of one of the school’s leaders.

The project has already assembled a cast of young stars, including Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, and Danila Kozlovsky.

Scheduled for a February 14, 2014, opening, the movie tells the story of two friends who attend a strict school for vampires. There Hyland and her friend “battle the mysterious forces of the evil Moroi who are set on destroying the Princess’s bloodline,” the studio notes.

This week Hyland dropped some news about the movie, promising a Vampire Academy trailer sometime this month.

Though she’s starting to branch out into more Hollywood roles, Sarah Hyland still has a hit in Modern Family. The show will premiere its fifth season on September 25.
