Rob Zombie is pushing 50, and despite a hardcore death metal-y image, finds the noise from a local Connecticut skate park to be bothersome and irritating.
Yes, when Rob Zombie washes off the makeup and fake blood and stops screaming about guts and gore for the day, the rocker just wants to retire to his peaceful Connecticut home without any punks making all kinds of noise to disturb his slumber. It’s so not metal.
Zombie and wife Sheri Zombie feel the skate park needs to be sanctioned, and the rocker — who recently released an album titled Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor as well as a horror film, The Lords of Salem — complained to the Litchfield County town of Woodbury that the venue needs to be moved. After all, who wants a bunch of festival attending, album buying kids around the place being annoying?
Woodbury First Selectman Gerald Stomski said the peaceful town is trying to quell the Zombie unrest, adding:
“We do know the Zombies, on a side note, and they are just normal people like anyone else in our town.”
Amanda Klimak is one of the people who helped the skate park get going, and she says:
“We petitioned and raised funds for two years to get the skate park built in Woodbury… It is now in full operation and the kids are loving it, however, now the hours have been cut significantly to keep a very famous neighbor happy… What I can’t understand is why instead of spending money on lawyers, he wouldn’t invest money into the skate park, which the town suggested. It would be tax deductible and a great gesture to the kids who have bought his movie tickets and music.”
The star also weighed in on Facebook , saying the local kids and their skate park have been a hassle and that the whole situation has become a “bummer” due to the media attention:
“It seems nuts to even have to address this but I guess I will. Some really crazy articles have popped up making claims about ‘hating skaters’ and ‘hating children.’ None of this is true and it makes me sick that someone would print such lies… There is a simple matter going on in which we are trying to find a solution that will make EVERYBODY happy. Unfortunately someone decided to turn it into a whole ugly event. What a bummer.”
In the clip above, Rob Zombie is addressed by the unruly skate punks annoying him with their skateboarding and fun.
