Honey Boo Boo’s Father Sugar Bear Undergoing Tests For Mysterious Condition

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s father Sugar Bear is currently undergoing tests for a mysterious condition.

Michael “Sugar Bear” Thompson is being tested at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville for an ailment that has been causing him to pass out. Mama June Thompson has been updating fans and followers on Facebook and Twitter. She tweeted Monday that Sugar Bear has been having the spells for a few months, and that medication isn’t helping. She also wrote on Facebook that he had just come back from a neurology appointment, but that he still had to have more tests run.

On last Thursday’s episode of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Sugar Bear was suffering from severe pain and had to be taken to the Intensive Care Unit. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis and pneumonia. The family doesn’t believe that his neurological condition is linked to those two issues.

Sugar Bear was hospitalized in May after he got dizzy and passed out over Memorial Day weekend. Doctors were unable to confirm or rule out any diseases. A month later, Mama June said the results of a doctor’s report weren’t good, but that she wanted to keep the diagnosis in the family.

Sugar Bear was previously hospitalized in September 2012 after he got an infection in his foot from an ATV injury. He was in danger of losing the leg, but he underwent surgery to have the infected tissue removed.
