Justin Bieber Club Brawl: Singer To Be Investigated, Accuser Named [Report]
Justin Bieber’s possible involvement in a nightclub brawl that erupted at the South Pointe hot spot in Southampton, New York on Sunday morning, is being investigated by police.
The 19-year-old star is being eyed along with his bodyguards, who have been accused of assault by a male clubgoer, who was later treated at a medical center after he was allegedly knocked out.
The New York Post reports another male clubgoer was also injured but included no information on whether that second person will be filing charges.
It was previously reported that Bieber was not a suspect and wasn’t part of the police investigation into the conduct of his security team.
That has now reportedly changed. Southampton Police Sgt. Todd Spencer told the New York Post police were trying to determine whether Justin instructed his security detail to carry out an alleged attack on clubgoer Wayne Rennalls, 22.
Sgt. Spencer said:: “That would be part of the investigation, whether Bieber directed them or not.”
The pop singer arrived at the Hamptons club at around 2:42 am Sunday accompanied by between 12-14 people including his security team. Despite being underage, the group were admitted to the V.I.P. section of the club, although both E! News and the UK’s Mirror newspaper report sources as saying “he [Bieber] was adamant about drinking water.”
Three reasons as to what sparked the alleged attack on Rennalls are currently being reported.
1: The first came from the New York Daily News and TMZ’s claims that a female clubgoer had tried to talk to Bieber in the venue but was turned away. She reportedly returned with a male friend who allegedly got into a “heated exchange” with the pop star.
According to the Daily News, a source told them: “He [Bieber] ripped his shirt off and went nuts. He was screaming.” The substance of that was echoed in TMZ’s source report.
However, multiple outlets, Bieber’s spokesperson, a South Pointe club rep, and numerous sources who spoke to E! News, Yahoo omg!, Page Six, and the Mirror reported the star did not rip his shirt in the club, did not go “nuts,” was not screaming, and was in fact well behaved in the venue.
2: A second reason reported by a number of media outlets and the club rep said tensions flared when the pop star’s crew moved from the club to the outside parking lot.
Reportedly, while the teen singer waited for about 20 minutes in an SUV for two waitresses to join him, the vehicle was swarmed by clubgoers trying to take snaps which led his security to react.
On August 5, the Post reported: “Security was pushing people away … and that’s when the altercation happened,” said the [South Pointe] rep.”
3: The third, and latest reason, allegedly involves a waitress and a bow tie.
On August 6, the Post quoted a purported witness who said hostilities ignited after: “Justin left the club with two waitresses. But the guys on the next table were not happy. One of the waitresses – a very attractive blonde – was flirtatiously wearing a bow tie, which one of the guys on the next table had loaned to her.”
The Post’s source went on to add: “As she got into Bieber’s SUV, the guys chased her out, saying they wanted the bow tie back. Bieber’s security pushed back, and a scuffle started. As Bieber and his team drove away, someone threw a rock at his car. Bieber jumped out of the sun roof and got on the hood of the car, while his security knocked the guy to the floor.”
In an August 7 report, the Post quotes a source who substantially heightened the teen singer’s alleged involvement in the alleged attack on Rennalls.
“[It was all over a little white H&M bow tie,” the source claimed in the publication.”One of the bottle girls liked it, so Wayne let her put it on. Justin was flashing all these girls with his flashlight. The girl with the bow tie went over to Justin and Wayne followed because he wanted his tie back. Then Bieber’s people got in his face… he eventually got the tie back.”
The source claims the situation “escalated outside” after Bieber was heard yelling and “screaming in Wayne’s direction, ‘Punk b**ch!'”
The source continued:”Wayne thought somebody threw something at him. Wayne picked up a small rock and threw it back towards Justin.”
On brief video footage filmed at the time the singer can be seen running along the roof of a SUV.
The Post’s source adds: “Wayne heard someone yell, ‘You done [profanity]ed up now.'”
“Justin jumped out the sunroof of his car and slid down the car like he was in ‘Die Hard’… He dropped his shirt and threw his hat and wanted to throw hands. His people surrounded Wayne, who was getting punched from all angles.”
It’s claimed Rennalls suffered a black eye, a damaged lip and bruised ribs. He has filed an assault claim.
It remains to be seen whether these source claims about Bieber’s alleged involvement are true.
The Canadian star was recently absolved of all wrongdoing in an alleged hit-and-run incident and was proven to be mistakenly accused of reckless speeding in his Calabasas, Calif., neighborhood over Memorial Day Weekend.
The Mirror reports sources close to the star say he is upset over the level of misinformation being reported about him.
Bieber’s rep has said: “Justin wasn’t involved in the altercation,” while a South Pointe club rep denies any altercation took place in the club.
“There was no incident in the club or on the premises,” Melanie Weitzner said.
The Southampton police investigation continues.
