Jets RB Joe McKnight Arrested During Traffic Stop
Jets running back Joe McKnight was arrested last week during a traffic stop. The NFL player apparently had several outstanding traffic warrants.
McKnight was pulled over in New Jersey last Tuesday morning for changing lanes without using a signal. But the off day for NFL camp players turned into a long one for the Jets RB.
USA Today reports that Police Chief Steve Gallagher explained the stop, adding that police found McKnight already had two outstanding warrants. The warrants were for failure to produce an insurance card and failure to observe a traffic signal. Both warrants were from New Jersey.
So, with that in mind, police handcuffed Joe McKnight and booked him in to jail. Thankfully for the Jets, McKnight soon posted his $320 bail and was released with a summons for unsafe lane changes and having an uninsured vehicle.
McKnight has been back with the Jets since his arrest, but he hasn’t been seen out on the field since last Friday. He experienced mild concussion symptoms after taking a hard hit during a play. The running back has also experienced some cramping issues during the Jets’ training camp.
The New York Post, which first reported the story, added that Joe McKnight is the second Jets running back to be arrested in recent months. Fellow player Mike Goodson was arrested three months ago on weapons and drug charges.
He was found asleep in a car on Route 80. While we’re not sure what McKnight’s plea was, we know that Goodson pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Meanwhile, McKnight failed his conditioning test when he first reported to training camp. Blaming the failure on dehydration, the running back was able to pass the test the next day. No word on how his recent arrest will affect his standing with the team.
