‘E.T.’ Is The UK’s Favorite Childhood Movie
Decades after its release in theaters, Steven Spielberg’s E.T. is still capturing our imaginations.
Although everyone may not have a soft spot for the lovable alien’s adventure on Earth, a lot of people in the United Kingdom seem to have fond memories of the film. In a recent poll commissioned to launch Samsung Smart TV’s S Recommendation, Spielberg’s flick emerged as the most popular choice.
Besides E.T., The Goonies also proved to be a popular choice with folks living in the UK. However, these are the only two live-action childhood favorites that made the list. The rest of the entries belong to animated films from Walt Disney.
Proving that people really love a good cry, Toy Story, The Lion King, and Bambi rounded out the top five. Since the 1,500 people polled chose relatively older movies, it’s worth nothing that most of these folks are probably in their late-20s or 30s.
In addition to finding out what people loved to watch when they were younger, the poll inquired about favorite genres. Action and adventure claimed the top spot while comedy same in second. These categories were followed by sci-fi, romance, and horror. Drama was nowhere to be found.
According to the recent survey, the average person watches between two and four films every month. Approximately 75 percent of those polled said they spent time with motion pictures as a form of relaxation and escapism. Around 30 percent of these folks said they’d love to watch more.
