One Direction: Paramedics On Standby During ‘This Is Us’ Showings
Movie theaters in the UK that are planning to show the One Direction movie This is Us are keeping paramedics on standby just in case something goes horribly wrong.
People who are into the world-famous pop group tend to be an excitable lot. In order to make sure that everyone is safe and sound during these screenings, theater managers are making sure that paramedics are on-hand should something go awry.
In addition to keeping medical professionals on standby, some theaters have hired bouncers to keep the peace. If fans start to get wild and crazy, then there’s going to be someone much bigger than them to make sure nobody gets too wacky.
An anonymous source from one of the UK’s biggest theater chains said management is taking extra precautions in order to keep One Direction fans as safe as humanly possible. Employees are hoping the This is Us showings go down without any serious trouble.
“They’re talking about paramedics too, because we had some girls who were shaking and crying so much they were hyperventilating. The management reckon this will roll out across the nation,” the insider explained.
Why should movie theaters be concerned about One Direction fans overreacting to the group’s new movie? The scene that unfolded this weekend in California explains everything in vivid and terrifying detail.
During a preview of This is Us in Los Angeles, fans who didn’t purchase advance tickets got a little rowdy when they realized there were still empty seats in the auditorium. Many of them rushed the theater in hopes of scoring a place to sit. According to one mother, it was a pretty frightful sight.
“They charged and went straight past the ticket takers for the doors of the actual theater screaming, ‘Let us in! Let us in!’ It took about a half an hour before a police car came with two policemen in it. They started palming kids down and shoving them outside,” she told the Los Angeles Times.
