Raven Symone’s Gay Marriage Tweet Reaction Is Huge
Raven Symone’s gay marriage tweet this week has Twitter and celeb blogs abuzz, as the Cosby Show cutie managed to stir up a bit of controversy with the big deal statement.
In case you missed it, Raven Symone told fans on Twitter that new laws recognizing gay marriage were a relief — prompting many to wonder if the star had plans herself to marry a woman.
In the original tweet, Raven Symone said:
“I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you.”
After the statement caused a significant degree of speculation, the star was forced to elaborate on her words. Fans and others wondered if Raven was planning to get hitched soon, and she said later:
“I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and is being accepted. I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to.”
Raven Symone’s rep later again clarified, saying:
“Raven is not getting married. She was just supporting the fact that she heard on NPR that more states legalized gay marriage today.”
While there are no immediate wedding bells for Raven, the star has been pleased by the outpouring of fan support she’s received on sites like Twitter. She even retweeted some fan tweets, including:
My childhood remains intact. Because it’s based on her good acting skills and show, not sexuality. Congrats @MissRavenSymone ?

Previously, Raven Symone has lashed out at questions over her sexuality, and when she was said to be living with another woman, the star explained:
“However that is my right as a HUMAN Being whether straight or gay, to tell or not to tell. As long as I’m not harming anyone. I am a light being made from love. And my career is the only thing I would like to put on display, not my personal life. Kisses!”
