‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’: Joss Whedon Shoots Down Rumors Once Again
Avengers: Age Of Ultron is so packed with rumors and hearsay that Joss Whedon seems to be repeating himself ad nausea.
The fans have latched onto the similarity between his choice for a film title and that of a comic book series. Avengers: Age Of Ultron was a comic book series in which Hank Pym invented Ultron and things obviously went very wrong. As a result of fans insisting that the upcoming film’s title shares the name for a reason, Joss Whedon would like to reaffirm that it’s simply a coincidence. Hank Pym will not be in Avengers: Age Of Ultron and that is final; signed, notarized and sealed by Joss Whedon himself (period).
Other titles had come to mind, and Joss Whedon joked that he’d considered Avengers: Underoos Of Ultron because of the alliteration, but in the end, Avengers: Age Of Ultron just stuck. He just likes the title, nothing more.
The official story in Avengers: Age Of Ultron is that Ultron was created between existing characters in the film, possibly indicating that Tony Stark created the supervillain by accident when he tried to create backup in the midst of remaking his suits of armor after Iron Man 3.
Other rumors flying around claim that the X-Men and the Avengers will have a crossover. This is probably due to the addition of mutants (on the hush-hush) to the team. Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine in the X-Men films, may have made it worse when he claimed he wanted to see Wolverine in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, as previously reported by The Inquisitr.
Again, Joss Whedon has shot down that rumor, “That’s not the plan. It would be cool but I think right now I already have a ton of very talented actors in my movie playing a ton of characters, and I’m about to add a few more. So I’m not like, ‘How can we get more licensed characters because I want to kill myself and make a nine-hour movie.'”
Last but not least, Thanos will not be in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Joss Whedon has stated that Thanos was never meant to be in the second film, despite being in the end credits scene at the end of The Avengers. Thanos is the main villain, and will most likely be included in Marvel’s Phase three along with Ant Man and The Wasp.
Are there any rumors Joss Whedon hasn’t shot down yet about Avengers: Age Of Ultron?
