Simon Cowell Knocks Up Buddy’s Wife [Report]

Simon Cowell is reportedly going to be a dad because… the wife of his friend is pregnant. Uh, congratulations?

We have to say that Simon Cowell’s pregnant friend’s wife is probably the weirdest celebrity pregnancy story we’ve done in recent memory, but many gossip outlets are reporting the odd update.

It appears Cowell’s friend Andrew Silverman is estranged from wife Lauren, and the two are in the midst of a divorce. And it also seems that during the pre-divorce period, Lauren Silverman and Simon Cowell have gotten pretty close… babymaking close!

The Daily Mail quotes an unnamed source as saying Silverman is currently ten weeks pregnant, and that the timing of the baby news for Cowell is indeed a bit inconvenient — the unnamed spy blabs:

“Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while… As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close.”

Simon Cowell (who is 52) has not yet addressed the hopefully happy news that he managed to impregnate the not yet divorced wife of a friend, but in 2009 he mused on the subject of fatherhood.

Having never been a father and seemingly uninterested in the whole thing, Cowell said:

“God, no. I couldn’t have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls I’d go nuts… With kids, you’ve got a routine you can’t escape from. You’ve got to be up at a certain time. Got to listen. When all you want to do is sit in a corner thinking.”

Uh. Mazel tov?

However, by this year Cowell softened his stance on kids, moving them from the “wholly insufferable” column to the “moderate annoyance” one — he said:

“I haven’t ruled [kids] out. If I knew I could be – how do I put this delicately – faithful, I would… I do like kids, I’m just not sure I’d be any good for the first six months. I don’t think I’d adopt because I’d rather have my own. I’d have to say I’d like a little girl.”

As for words coming back to haunt you, Cowell also had this to say of his taste in women while lamenting singlehood — the Daily Mail claims the X Factor judge opined:

“I’m attracted to crazy women. I encourage crazy behavior and I make them crazy… I’m attracted to certain personalities who are difficult to control. So there are tantrums, tears and fights, which is all part of the drama. My life is really odd… Every girl wants to be number one and they’re very territorial. I like the fight, because otherwise I’d have a dull group of girlfriends.”

Neither Simon Cowell nor Lauren Silverman have confirmed the new baby rumor, but if they do, let The Inquisitr be the first to say congratulations, and we’re sorry there’s no Hallmark card to announce this sort of thing.
