Flavor Flav is officially out of the restaurant business, with his Flavor Flav’s Chicken & Ribs in Detroit closing for good after the rapper failed to satisfy arrears with his landlord per a court order.
Flavor Flav’s joint had the motto “chicken you crave, perfected by Flav,” and he first faced a shutdown in June.
Flav’s landlord sued for $20,000, and lawyers for the rapper managed to fend off an initial eviction. But the balance owed wasn’t paid, and moving trucks were spotted outside Flavor Flav’s Chicken & Ribs, after a stay of eviction was denied.
Before the official closure of Flavor Flav’s Chicken & Ribs in Detroit, the joint’s official Facebook page had said:
“Don’t Believe All That Hype Out There Folks..We Are Not Going Anywhere! In Fact We Are Having Visitors Next Week!! LL Cool J/Ice Cube/Flavor Flav W/His Group Public Enemy & De La Soul Will Be Coming Right Here To The Restaurant!!! They Also Are Performing At DTE Clarkston On 6/26!! Let’s Get Readyyyyy!!!! Thanks For All Your Support Metro-Detroit!”
By Wednesday, the official line from Flavor Flav’s camp had changed from “staying open” to “moving” and a Facebook message read:
“No worries we are relocating!!! Stay tuned for our official announcement later this evening!!!”
No word has come from Flavor Flav’s camp on a re-opening, a re-location, a new venture, or any other plans to re-enter the rapper/restaurateur space. Iowa locations of Flavor Flav’s Chicken & Ribs suffered similar fates to the one experienced by the Detroit outlet this week.
A rep for Flavor Flav said that the day-to-day ops are handled by the rapper’s business partners.
