DMX Arrested: Singer Says He Was Not Charged For DUI
DMX was arrested early on Friday morning but it looks like the singer may have been able to avoid charges.
Several sources claim that DMX was arrested for a DUI this morning in South Carolina (TMZ even has a mugshot) but the singer said that he was not charged for drunk driving.
A statement released on the singer’s behalf claims that DMX was pulled over early on Friday morning on suspicion of drunk driving. The 42-year-old singer was taken to the Greenville County Detention Center and given a breathalyzer test. DMX passed the test and released.
The singer was charged, however, for driving without a license.
A statement released on DMX behalf reads: “Allegations about DMX being arrested for drunk driving are false. He was arrested early this morning but quickly released. X was given a breathalyzer test and easily passed it. He is back at his home in South Carolina and we are continuing our focus on his upcoming album and acting roles.”
So yes, DMX was arrested. But no, he wasn’t charged with a DUI.
Which is a good thing since DMX definitely doesn’t need another arrest on his record. The singer has more than a dozen arrests on his record and recently served a stint in jail for violating his probation. DMX has been trying to make a comeback for the last few years but legal issues have always gotten in the way.
He released a new EP last year and is currently working on a new album. Hopefully he can keep himself out of jail long enough to get the new album out.
