DMX Arrested For DUI? Singer Avoids Charges After Passing Breathalyzer Test
It was a familiar scene in South Carolina this morning when DMX was arrested for a DUI.
The 42-year-old singer, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was pulled over early this morning under suspicion of drunk driving. He was taken to the Greenville County Detention Center in South Carolina where he was reportedly given a breathalyzer test.
According to TMZ,DMX was released shortly after his arrival at the detention center. It was initially reported that DMX had been charged for a DUI and for driving without a license but it looks like the singer was able to avoid charges.
A statement released on DMX behalf reads: “Allegations about DMX being arrested for drunk driving are false. He was arrested early this morning but quickly released. X was given a breathalyzer test and easily passed it. He is back at his home in South Carolina and we are continuing our focus on his upcoming album and acting roles.”
Domenick Nati of Nati Celebrity Services did not comment on the status of DMX license.
The 48-year-old singer has more than a dozen arrests on his record. In 2011, he was arrested in Phoenix after he was clocked driving at 102 mph. Earlier this year, the singer was arrested for driving without a license. DMX also did a brief stint in prison for violating his probation by refusing to take a drug test.
The singer has been trying to make a comeback since releasing a new EP in 2012 (he even made a remix of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer) but legal issues have been a problem for the singer. It looks like DMX may have finally learned his lesson about drinking and driving and hopefully he can stay out of trouble long enough to get his new album out.
