Amanda Bynes Avoids Charges For Driveway Fire Weirdness
Amanda Bynes won’t face any criminal charges over her weirdest weirdness yet. The troubled 27-year-old actress allegedly started a fire in the driveway of an elderly woman’s home in California on Monday.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office told MTV News Wednesday that Bynes won’t face criminal charges since she has been placed in the care of mental health professionals.
“She’s at a mental health facility now so we’re out of the mix,” Captain Don Aguilar said.
Bynes was involved in a disturbance in a residential neighborhood Monday night. An eyewitness said that she was in an elderly woman’s driveway with one pant leg on fire. Her Pomeranian was soaked in gasoline and also reportedly got burned.
She was later filmed by a liquor store security camera going into the shop to rinse her dog off under an employee’s sink. She was detained and taken for a mental health evaluation.
The details are still pretty sketchy, but the new deluge of Amanda Bynes news this week seems to make it pretty clear that her behavior of late isn’t some kind of post-modern performance art piece. We could be dealing with a real breakdown, possibly severe mental illness.
E! Online reports that her parents, Lynn and Rick, have had enough and that they are going to court Friday to obtain a conservatorship which would give them control over Bynes’ financial and personal affairs.
Former co-stars like 31-year-old Taran Killam have voiced their support for the former actress. “I just want her to be healthy and OK,” he said.
