Into The Woods Cast Confirmed With New Additions
For the last few weeks production of Into The Woods has finally started as it searches for the perfect cast. Now it’s reported that all of the cast is locked and loaded for the Broadway adaptation.
The film, which will be headed by Disney, is a musical-based fairy tale themes film. Under the direction Rob Marshall, we now have a slew of names to announce for the project. A source close to the production has given big names attached to the film, some we already know about, and others are completely new to us.
Into The Woods will be lead by Meryl Streep as The Witch and James Corden as The Baker. Other big players in the film adaptation are Emily Blunt as The Baker’s Wife, Johnny Depp as The Wolf, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, and Chris Pine as Cinderella’s Prince.
It was recently announced that Jake Gyllenhaal had to pull out of the role of Rapunzel’s Prince due to scheduling conflicts. Instead Billy Magnussen has replaced him for the role. Mackenzie Mauzy is said to play Rapunzel, Lucy Punch will play Lucinda, Tommy Blanchard as Florinda, Christine Baranski as Cinderella’s Mother, and Tracey Ullman as Jack’s Mother.
We have to admit that the comedic styling of Tracey Ullman is our favorite new addition to the cast.
It’s known that most of the cast has already had singing experience in the past. Meryl Streep notably for her role in the film adaptation of Mama Mia, and Christine Baranski in the adaptation of Chicago. Anna Kendrick is also a talent on the stage as well, and was featured in last year’s surprise hit Pitch Perfect. The only person we’re really not sure about is Chris Pine, who we haven’t heard sing yet, but the role of the Prince can glide on comedy more than vocals if need be.
The original 1987 production of Into The Woods starred the likes of Benadette Peters, Joanna Gleason and Chip Zien.
