Get Rid Of Royal Baby News By Going Republican With Guardian
Royal Baby news is THE news today, but there’s a way out of the constant updates if you’re unsympathetic to the crown.
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, reportedly went into labor earlier today. The Royal Gynecologist has been summoned, and all eyes are watching St. Mary’s Hospital for news of the Royal Baby’s arrival.
News of the next heir will be all over social media, your RSS feeds, and every homepage you access. The Inquisitr currently has no fewer than three Royal Baby stories in our top ten, and the keyword has been the undisputed No. 1 on MSN trends all day.
Where, oh where, can you get away from all of this crap?
The popular British newspaper clearly predicted Royal Baby “fatigue” as news of Middleton’s labor started to hit headlines today. A small tab on their homepage reads “Republican?” Click on it, and the site will be washed of all Royal Baby news for you.
The reason for the term “Republican?” In the U.K., a Republican is a political identifier for those who support a republic without a monarchy. They want to do things the way the US does and really would like to do away with the Royal Family entirely.
To switch back, click “Royalist?” Royalist meaning that you are loyal to the crown.
It’s a pretty quirky function and will actually give you a pretty educated look at everything going on today that has nothing to do with the Royal Baby (hint: A lot). Also, this is probably the only occasion in history where Morrissey will willingly identify as a Republican, so make note of the date.
Update: The Guardian’s homepage has since changed to reflect the following options: Royalist and Not A Royalist. The Republican option is kaput. We sent an email to Guardian inquiring about the change and will let you know if they get back to us. Switching to “Not A Royalist” will still get you out of Royal Baby news.
