Batman And Superman Hooking Up For ‘Man Of Steel’ Sequel
The Man of Steel sequel will feature Superman and Batman according to director Zack Snyder.
Snyder made the announcement today at Comic-Con in San Diego, which apparently got all the geeks and nerds in attendance very excited.
This would be the first time that the two superheroes would appear in a feature film together, according to AP, although they have fought evildoers (and/or each other) side-by-side in the comics before.
Snyder provided no other details on the upcoming sequel except that the script is in the works.
Yesterday, Man of Steel officially became the second highest grossing movie of 2013 behind Iron Man 3. The film starring British actor Henry Cavill as Superman, has earned over $280 million domestically and about $340 million overseas, not including Japan, where it is yet to open. Given these numbers, It’s no surprise that Man of Steel 2 would be on the agenda.
The Wall Street Journal described the reaction by the fanboys and girls to Snyder’s announcement that Batman and Superman would be in the next Man of Steel installment. “A merging of Superman’s iconic ‘S’ over Batman’s black-winged creature on the big screen sent the approximately 5,000 people in the San Diego Convention Center’s Hall H into near-hysteria as director Zack Snyder announced that a sequel to June’s hit Man of Steel, expected in 2015, will also feature the caped crusader.”
Snyder will have to cast a new actor in the Batman part because Christian Bale has already announced he is not interested in reprising the role and has already declined to appear in the upcoming Justice League movie.
In an interview in May, Zack Snyder was coy about the possibility of Superman and Batman teaming up in the same movie. “I haven’t heard that but that sounds awesome. [Laughter.] That’s literally how rumors get started. No, I did not know that.”
Do you find yourself lapsing into near hysteria with the news that Batman and Superman will appear in the Man of Steel sequel?
