Harrison Ford Wanted For ‘Sharknado’ Sequel
If Sharknado scribe Thunder Levin has his way, then Harrison Ford will have a role in the sequel.
Directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, the goofy SyFy flick found Tara Reid and former 90210 star Ian Ziering battling sharks that are swept up inside a tornado. The movie soon captured the imagination of social media, which prompted the cable network to move forward with a sequel.
During his conversation with the folks at Business Insider, Thunder Levin said he wouldn’t mind casting Harrison Ford or Jaws director Steven Spielberg in Sharknado 2.
“Who would I love to see? Harrison Ford and George Clooney. You know who I think would be perfect? Steven Spielberg and we could have a shark eat him. You know, ’cause he started all this,” Levin explained.
The scribe said that he hopes SyFy and production company The Asylum can convince everyone to come back for the sequel. Although the follow-up is making the jump to New York City, Levin wants everyone involved with the first feature to come along for the ride.
“I would hope that they would bring back members of the original cast. I was certainly impressed with Ian Ziering. I think he really reinvented himself as an action star,” he said.
Of course, it’s unlikely that Harrison Ford will sign on for Sharknado 2. Since the Star Wars alum is still considered a big box office draw, he may not be ready to tackle a made-for-television shark movie.
Fortunately for fans of Ferrante’s cheesy little flick, a sequel is currently moving forward. The Inquisitr reported earlier this week that Sharknado 2 is expected to premiere on SyFy next year. Details about the project are few and far between at the moment.
“What we can guarantee is that ‘Sharknado 2? will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year,” SyFy’s Thomas Vitale said in a statement.
Do you think Harrison Ford should seriously consider a part in the upcoming Sharknado sequel?
