Florida Man Screams ‘Zimmerman!’ Punches Truck, Gets Arrested
Melbourne, FL – We understand that emotions are running high after the George Zimmerman verdict, but we do not recommend running and punching random truck windows. Not only could you break something, you will definitely get arrested (especially if the driver is inside).
Joseph Vargo, a 57-year-old man, accomplished just that when he punched the window of a moving truck and screamed “Zimmerman!” at the driver.
He was arrested for disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest, and is being held in the Brevard County Jail on a $750 bond.
While Vargo’s form of protest isn’t exactly keeping with the general tone of Trayvon Martin demonstrations across the country, there have been a number of arrests this week associated with the George Zimmerman verdict.
In Victorville, California, 17 people were arrested on Wednesday after a Trayvon Martin demonstration reportedly got out of hand.
Of the 17 arrested, eight were juveniles, and most were charged with unlawful assembly.
Though the George Zimmerman verdict has resulted in polarized and heated opinions on the subjects of race, gun and self-defense laws, most of the demonstrations taking place in California and across the country have been peaceful.
Since the Trayvon Martin case has been discussed largely in terms of race since last year, it is worth pointing out that the demonstrations have been attended by a mix of ethnicities.
