Abducted Woman’s Body Found In Detroit

The body of a Detroit woman who was abducted last week has been found by police in Dearborn.

According to the Washington Post, 20-year-old Brenna Machus, the assistant manager at a Family Dollar in the Detroit suburb, was found this morning less than 2 miles from where she disappeared earlier this week.

Police have officially identified the body as Machus.

CBS Local reports that Machus was abducted shortly after a co-worker, Joseph Orlando, was fatally shot at the Family Dollar on Tuesday morning.

Police knew that Machus was in danger due to the fact that her cellphone and personal belongings were left at the Dollar Store after the shooting. Her family still had hope, however, that the young woman would be found alive.

Sadly, that hope vanished this morning when Machus’ body was found a few miles from the Dollar Store.

Police have not been able to identify a suspect yet. The store’s surveillance cameras caught the suspect on tape but police did not get a clear look at the shooter’s face. Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad is encouraging people to call in with any tips about the suspect’s identity.

Haddad said: “I feel rather enraged we have another homicide in Dearborn.”

Haddad did not speculate on a motive for the double murder but Brenna’s brother, Ryan Machus, believes that the shooting may have been related to a series of recent firings at the Family Dollar.

Tina Cable, a former Family Dollar employee whose son dated Machus, said that she believed the suspect may have been one of Machus’ former boyfriends.

Cable said: “She dated my son for a little while and she told him that there was a guy that was stalking her all the time.”
