‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Comic-Con Teaser Released Online [Video]
The promotional team behind The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has dropped a new San Diego Comic-Con teaser online ahead of the movie’s appearance at the convention.
Although fans of the franchise are no doubt already familiar with Jamie Foxx’s character in director Marc Webb’s upcoming sequel, we now have an official look at the character. Thanks to set photos and amateur footage, Electro’s appearance is no longer an industry secret.
However, there hasn’t been a lot of actual footage from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 floating around online. In order to prepare everyone for the film’s big reveal at Comic-Con 2013, Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures have unleashed a new teaser clip from the sequel online.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Electro gained his powers in the comic books after being struck by lightning. The clip embedded above suggests that the villain’s origin story is a little different in the upcoming sequel.
“I can feel it in the walls. I feel it in my veins. No matter what you do doc, you can’t contain it. You want to know how powerful I am? Well I want to know too. I’m Electro,” Foxx says in the clip.
Here’s how Columbia Pictures is describing The Amazing Spider-Man 2:
For Peter Parker, life is busy — between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen, high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro, emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
Uproxx reports that several cast members from the follow-up will take part in the panel scheduled for this Friday (July 18) in San Diego. Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHann, and director Marc Webb are slated to make an appearance.
The flick also stars Emma Stone, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field, Chris Cooper, B.J. Novak, Sarah Gadon, and Felicity Jones. The sequel arrives in theaters on May 2, 2014.
