StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm has released in Shanghai, alongside a video featuring a Zerg rush on the Chinese city!

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty was a breakthrough in the RTS (real-time strategy) genre with its updated fully 3D visuals, rendering details of the science fiction war game on a level never before seen. It continued the story from StarCraft: Brood War with a whole new story involving Jim Raynor now facing someone he once cared for, Nancy Kerrigan, except this time she was infected with Zerg DNA after her capture. Along the way, the Protoss, an interdimensional race with superior technology, pretty much got caught in the crossfire as they attempted to colonize our universe.

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm , follows the Zerg storyline after the Terrans (humans) were forced to defend themselves from a new wave of invasions. The Zerg are a race somewhere between insects, crustaceans, and H.R. Giger’s Aliens , thriving on a “creep” as they mutate and spawn from central structures.

The release of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm in Shanghai, China has been celebrated with what could be a fan-made video showing a couple out seeing the sights as Mutalisks, or flying shrimp-like Zerg creatures, are witnessed flying about the taller buildings. This video may have been made by Blizzard, considering the realism involved in the Zerg and their movements on screen, but we don’t know for sure until they acknowledge it.

The couple in the video, as well as other citizens of Shanghai, encounter sightings of various creatures. A man walking down a back alley witnesses some Zerglings (cricket-like creatures that usually swarm their opponent) skittering across a rooftop and misses a Hydralisk (sort of a snake-like crustacean with pincers) hiding in the shadows as he passes it.

Toward the end, we witness a Zerg Queen, and a Mutalisk attacking the couple before an infested Kerrigan turns toward the camera for a final shot.

What do you think of the Zerg invasion video in Shanghai celebrating the release of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm ?
