‘Hunger Games’ Character Is Probably Gay, Says Series Star
The Hunger Gamesmight have a gay character, according to one of the film’s stars. No, it’s not Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Haymitch, Finnick, or you know, anyone cool.
It’s Effie Trinket. According to actress Elizabeth Banks.
Banks is a huge supporter of the LGBT community, and shared that her Hunger Games character could be gay during an interview with The Advocate. Specifically, Banks was asked if she has ever played a lesbian character.
Her answer might surprise fans of the dystopian film and novel series.
“I don’t think I have — although Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games might be gay. My vision of the Capitol is pansexual like ancient Rome, where everybody’s doing everybody.”
Though she has never played a lesbian character, Banks has a few casting suggestions for a potential female love interest:
“Angelina Jolie is always super-hot and Christina Hendricks is pretty ridiculous, but I think I would have a lot of fun with Emma Stone,” she admitted.
She also dropped a few hints about the upcoming sequel toPitch Perfect. The first film has a large gay fanbase, and many fans have been pushing for Anna Kendrick’s character to get together with Brittany Snow. So will it happen?
“Well, there’s a huge outpouring of support for Beca and Chloe — Anna Kendrick’s and Brittany Snow’s characters — to get together, but I can tell you right now that they will not be lesbians in the sequel.”
Next time, Gadget.
I’m going to need some gay community help on this one. Is Effie Trinket a good candidate for The Hunger Games‘ gay character, or would you prefer it to be someone else? Who? Sound off!
