Ryan Newman Responds To Being Called ‘Big Ogre’ By Kyle Busch
Ryan Newman doesn’t take too well to being called a “big ogre” and “biggest stupid idiot out there.”
The NASCAR racer responded to the harsh words that fellow racer Kyle Busch had to say after Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Busch was angry after he believed Newman had a wreck with his brother Kurt Busch, taking Kurt out of contention in the race.
After the race Kyle Busch unloaded on Ryan Newman, saying:
“I really hate it that Kurt got tore up and I felt like he had the best car here today. He was definitely good. He could definitely roll the long runs for sure and I was proud of those guys, but man just stupidity.
“I mean Ryan Newman is the biggest stupid idiot out here. And he’s a big ogre and he can do whatever he wants because he can probably kick anybody’s butt, so no sense in getting into a fight with him. But glad he is out of a job.”
On Monday Newman responded in kind, leading with a schoolyard-level jab at Kyle Busch’s appearance.
“I’m sure if I rearrange his face I might fix it,” Newman said. “He’s frustrated finishing third [actually second] or wherever he was after hitting me first and then giving me a little rub down the straightaway. Just imagine how I feel.
“It is what it is. We know he’s not very bright. He’s a heck of a talent, but not very bright.”
The wreck was fairly devastating to Kurt Busch. He had a decent chance to win the race, but afterward was only able to muster up a 31st place finish, dropping him from No. 9 to No. 14 in the standings and out of playoff contention.
Despite the harsh words between Kyle Busch and Ryan Newman, they seemed to ignore the fact that neither Ryan nor Kurt were actually responsible for the crash. Kurt was trying to pass Matt Kenseth on Lap 225 when Kenseth sped up and bumped Busch from behind. This was the action that caused Kurt Busch to spin his back end and slide into Newman.
