Trayvon Rallies Number Thousands In NYC, DC, Dallas, Oakland [Livestream]
Heavily attended Trayvon Martin rallies are underway in several cities tonight, and images from protests like the massive NYC demonstration have been showing up across social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.
The Occupy Wall St. and Occupy the Bronx Facebook pages both shared a status update of police and protesters in New York City at the corner of 34th Street and 7th Avenue, and Trayvon demonstrations at Union Square and in the Village have been reported as well.
The Occupy page says:
NYC. All out in the streets to stand for justice tonight. Head to Times Square or near 34 and 7th. Stay posted to ?#?hoodiesUp? for updates.
It’s difficult to get a comprehensive picture of the number of Trayvon Martin rallies underway tonight, but demonstrations have been confirmed in Oakland, NYC, Miami, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and Washington DC.
In New York, a line of New York Police Department officers are reportedly blocking a major intersection as protesters head toward them, and one commonly retweeted image depicts the scene in the city tonight:

However, in Boston, another image of police and Trayvon rally attendees has been posted by the official Boston Police Department account, showing a slightly less adversarial scene:
