Tom Hanks Gushes About New Granddaughter Charlotte

Tom Hanks has big plans in mind for his newborn granddaughter Charlotte.

The 57-year-old actor posted a picture of the little one on Twitter, along with a prediction that she would rule the world in about 30 years.

“Less than a month old. New Grand daughter. Will rule world @ year 2033”

Charlotte certainly has the bloodlines for greatness. Her grandfather Tom Hanks is one of Hollywood’s top-paid and best-known actors, and her dad is 35-year-old Colin Hanks, who has carved out a nice acting career for himself as well.

“Ms. Charlotte Bryant Hanks has decided to join us. She’s as happy and healthy as we are overjoyed and tired,” Colin told People after Charlotte was born. He and wife Samatha Bryant also have a two-year-old daughter, Olivia.

While the world may belong to Charlotte in a few decades, Tom Hanks is still solidly atop the acting realm. He is set to appear as Walt Disney in the upcoming movie Saving Mr. Banks. The movie, which also features Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers, the woman who wrote Mary Poppins, is already getting some early award buzz.

Tom realizes that playing one of the biggest figures in American movie history is intimidating, and said he’s just trying not to screw up.

“I don’t want to piss anybody off. I want to be accurate, more than anything else,” Hanks said. “John Lee Hancock is the director, and it’s really the story of Emma Thompson more than it’s about me, so, you know, I don’t want to screw up.”

Beside Hanks, the movie boasts an impressive cast — Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman and Bradley Whitford. It is set for a limited release December 13 with a full release on December 20.

Tom Hanks said he’s long been fascinated with Walt Disney, not just for his groundbreaking characters and cartoons but also his strong business sense. Maybe soon he can share that love with his new granddaughter Charlotte.
