Mariah Carey Still Plans Central Park Gig After Dislocating Shoulder
Mariah Carey was hurt so badly while shooting a promo for her new single #Beautiful that she had to be rushed to the hospital and have her shoulder popped back into it sockey, but it isn’t slowing the pop powerhouse down.
Mariah suffered the injuries on Sunday, including a dislocated shoulder and bruises “everywhere” on her body. The accident happened as the result of a wardrobe malfunction, husband Nick Cannon explained.
“She was in this nice, beautiful gown, heels on and everything, and was kind of on this platform and reached and slipped and fell on her whole side,” Nick explained.
In addition to the dislocated shoulder, Mariah also cracked a rib and chipped her shoulder bone, Cannon added.
Mariah was taken to New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery after the accident for treatment, but said she still plans on making her gig this weekend.
On Saturday, Mariah Carey is slated to sing a free concert on the famous park’s Great Lawn, an event that will benefit Hurricane Sandy Relief.
Mariah said the show will go on, despite her injuries.
“In a sling, but will do my best to make it look good w/ the ensemble Sat w/ the NY philharmonic, an amazing honor for such a great cause (sic),” she tweeted.
The gig will come a little less than two weeks before Mariah Carey plans to release her new album, The Art of Letting Go. The release was originally slated for June, but Carey said she didn’t want to rush it.
“I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs,” Mariah wrote on Twitter. “I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard. When I’m ready, you’ll be the first 2 know!”
To support the album, Mariah Carey will be going on her first world tour in nine years.
