Kim Sears May Become Mrs. Andy Murray After Wimbledon Win

Kim Sears is the longtime girlfriend of tennis star Andy Murray, but with the Brit’s recent win at Wimbledon she could soon be getting a relationship upgrade.

The 25-year-old British artist and fashion icon was watching as Murray beat Novak Djokovic to claim the men’s final at Wimbledon this week. The win was a milestone for Murray, who last year won a gold medal at the London Olympics and now has ended the 77-year drought for British Wimbledon winners.

But Murray’s win could be even more important for Kim Sears. Rumors had said that Murray would propose to Sears now that he’s achieved his top professional goal of winning Wimbledon.

Reporters asked Murray about it this week, but be played it close to the vest.

“I haven’t thought about that yet,” Murray replied.

While he’s not giving up the next step for the relationship, Andy Murray has shared intimate details before. He revealed that the couple allows their dogs, Maggie and Rusty, to share the bed with them.

Murray’s even touched on some of the rough patches with Sears. The couple broke up briefly during their seven-year relationship, spending six months apart before reuniting.

“It’s been seven, coming up to eight years pretty much — bar a few months in the middle — we’ve been together,” Murray told the Mirror of their relationship after his win. “It’s been a long time.”

While Murray has been building his name and reputation on the tennis court, Kim Sears is becoming an icon of the fashion world. She was heralded for the array of stylish dresses she wore during the Wimbledon tournament, including one from the Victoria Beckham Spring 2013 collection that grew so popular it’s now on back order.

But most importantly for Andy Murray, his girlfriend knows tennis and what is demanded of the world’s top-ranked player.

“One thing that, I think, really helps with her is that she really understands the sport because she has been around it from a young age,” Murray said about Kim Sears. “She was used to her dad traveling on the Tour when she was a kid so she knew what it was like to have that sort of distant relationship and that’s obviously helped a lot.
